OPENING SCENE: Exterior shot of a Charles Schwab monument sign. We then see a man (Bryce) inside a Schwab office building, crossing his arms and smiling. Cuts to Bryce seated inside a Schwab meeting area.
Bryce Harman [00:00:03] My name is Bryce Harman, and I'm Senior Manager of Executive Services Trading for Schwab Stock Plan Services. I first became interested in the world of finance working on the Personal Finance Merit Badge as a Boy Scout.
SCENE CHANGE: We see a photo of a younger Bryce playing acoustic guitar, surrounded by friends.
Bryce Harman [00:00:19] I remember how satisfying it was to get jobs in high school to save up for my first guitar and music lessons. I still love playing guitar today.
SCENE CHANGE: Cut to Bryce outside, playing acoustic guitar. We then see a framed photo of Bryce graduating from college, holding his degree. Cuts back to Bryce inside Schwab.
Bryce Harman [00:00:24] I wasn't sure college was for me, but my dad and grandfather convinced me otherwise. Getting the college degree was about setting a really big goal, and then just doing whatever it takes to accomplish it. That translates well into talking to folks about saving and investing for their future.
SCENE CHANGE: We see another framed picture, this time of a young Bryce with his dad. Cuts back to Bryce inside Schwab, talking to camera.
Bryce Harman [00:00:43] My dad is a financial advisor and I used to work part-time for him. He taught me many valuable lessons including the importance of paying yourself first. 10 to 20 percent is the best way to achieve your financial goals.
SCENE CHANGE: We see Bryce walking and talking with a colleague outside the Schwab building. Bryce is holding a folder with paperwork as they walk. Cuts back to Bryce talking to camera.
Bryce Harman [00:00:57] When I came to Schwab 25 years ago, my first job was answering questions on the hotline. It's so rewarding to have grown into this position I have now, offering white glove service to key executives. 90% of our calls are answered in under 30 seconds. My CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® designation comes in handy because this is not just a general 800 number…
SCENE CHANGE: Bryce and his colleague sit down around a table in an atrium with a couple more colleagues, and they continue to collaborate on their work, smiling and laughing together. Cuts back to Bryce inside.
Bryce Harman [00:01:18] …this is a dedicated team that's trained to talk to your C-suite team, your executives, your Board of Director affiliates, and their advisors. Mentoring the growth of our Stock Plan Services team has been very rewarding. They recently achieved their highest employee engagement results ever, over the 80th percentile. Given the space, people constantly surprise you with their ingenuity and creativity.
SCENE CHANGES: Additional shots show Bryce at the table with colleagues, intercut with scenes of him playing acoustic guitar and exterior views of the Schwab building.
Bryce Harman [00:01:39] It's so unique that Schwab allows us the freedom to explore and write our own music. That's a big Schwab difference.
SCENE CHANGES: We see Bryce in a conference room talking with colleagues.
Bryce Harman [00:01:48] And it's clearly working. This past year, seeing over $2 billion in new assets come in based on very satisfied advisors saying, "We really liked so much how you did this with this particular executive."
CLOSING SCENE: We see Bryce in the meeting room, talking and smiling.
Bryce Harman [00:01:59] I love my job, doing the workshops, teaching financial literacy, putting the client first. If you end up finding a job or career where you're doing what you love to do, it doesn't feel like work. Have to say that after 25 years at Schwab, I do feel like I'm just getting warmed up.
